Why walk        on      Sunday 13th May 2012 ?

A child dies every 20 seconds from diseases associated with unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene.

The average person in the UK uses 150 litres of water a day.
The average person in the developing world uses 10 litres of water a day.

The water that women in Africa and Asia carry on their heads weighs typically 20kg – about our airport luggage allowance.

The average round trip in Africa to fetch water is 6 km.   We turn on a tap.

Two-fifths of the world’s population don't have access to a safe toilet.  This lack of basic sanitation spreads disease and undermines the daily health of 2.5 billion people.

For  £15  WaterAid can provide a person with lasting safe water, adequate sanitation and hygiene education.  This enables people to help themselves and step up out of poverty.
